The Warsaw’s Praga Museum is an institution preserving the heritage and the unique atmosphere of the Praga district. It`s located in several buildings on the right side of the Vistula river as a division of the Museum of Warsaw. One of them, the Krzyżanowski’s House is the oldest brick house in Praga, dating back to the 18th century.
In the backyard you will find an outbuilding which contains an old Jewish Minyan praying room with exceptional decorations from the 1930s discovered in 1996. That interior is a part of the main exhibition which is mainly based in the front buildings. Here you can also see the 19th century basements containing several art installations.
The museum was created with involvement of Praga’s local community. Its activities extend far beyond the museum’s walls. Praga had been forgotten for decades and rejected for having bad reputation of a dangerous place. Now we can observe its great revival. This area is completely different then the most touristic parts of Warsaw`s historic center. Visit it to understand its unique character.
